How Artists Can Develop Satisfied Art Buyers and Increase Art Sales

By Renee Phillips Leave a Comment

After you concentrate on creating the best art you possibly can you can then think about how to attract buyers to your art, and sell more of it.  This article is about how artists can develop satisfied art buyers and increase art sales.  If you make a habit of putting these simple steps into practice you’ll be sure  to attract more art buyers, and grow your professional success for a long time to come. You’ll also find links to several additional articles throughout this article and at the end of it to help you sell more art.

Develop Art SalesBe a consummate professional
Show off your attitude as a responsive creative professional. Demonstrate that you are friendly, easy to communicate with, and always willing and eager to accommodate potential buyers. One way is to make that clear on your contact page of your website. Offer several options for them to contact you. Also express those traits in social media and you’ll attract many art buyers who appreciate your personal approach.

Anticipate and resolve
Consider any questions or problems that might occur. Help your potential art buyer by providing an F.A.Q. page on your website. Express verbally and in written communication that you will help to prevent any issues before they occur and solve them if they should happen.

Provide detailed and accurate information
The more precise details you can provide about your art, medium, sizes, substrates, and how it can be purchased, the more likely that your customer will trust you. Share information such as archival materials you use to create your art and your attention to details. Offer Certificates of Authenticity. Lead them to  your “Praise” page where you have statements from satisfied customers and professional associates.

Stay proactive
Check your webmail frequently and respond. After an order has been placed, follow up. Keep your buyer notified about shipping progress and other useful information.  If your commissioned work of art or shipment is delayed, inform your customer immediately to avoid any doubts or fears they may feel. Follow up after a few weeks to see how they are enjoying their purchase.

Go the extra mile
There are many steps you can take to increase the level of customer satisfaction. A few services may include offering to deliver the artwork or help them select the best room and location for it. Provide them with proper art care instructions or framing and lighting tips. Invite them to be added to your V.I.P. email list. Offer them a discount if they purchase another work of art in the near future.

When you achieve the consummate level as an art professional you will enjoy the rewards of having satisfied art buyers and they will return to you again and also refer their friends and associates to you.

Provide a clear and easy to find return policy
If you offer the option to return your artwork if they are not satisfied, let them know before the purchase. Make sure your return and refund policies are easy to find and understand. On the other hand, if you don’t offer returns and refunds, that fact should be easy to find in more than one location, written clearly and repeated verbally.
