Steps Artists Can Take to Protect Our Mother Earth

By Renee Phillips 2 Comments

Every one of us may be responsible for contributing to increased pollution, harm and destruction to the environment. If we care, we have the option to be consciously aware of our actions and change bad habits. We can make a positive difference. Here are steps artists can take to protect Mother Earth.

To accompany this article I chose an awe-inspiring painting by Peter N. Van Giesen, a meditative photograph by co-creators Dick and Rosanne, and a breathtaking painting by Claude Monet.

How We Can Protect Nature and Our Environment

• Speak up about destructive conduct that is endangering the Earth.
• Create art that raises awareness about important issues regarding nature.
• Organize an art exhibition on the topic of our choice about art and nature.
• Promote artists, exhibitions and galleries that are environmentally conscious.
• Use our unique artistic talents and skills to express our beliefs and concerns.
• Raise awareness about the need for positive change through social media.
• Learn the scientific proven facts about environmental issues and share our knowledge.

• Join environmentally proactive groups on social media where we can educate ourselves, find resources and share posts.
• Alter our lifestyles to avoid toxic wastes and lead to a balanced and harmonious relationship with Mother Nature.
• Avoid using toxic cleaning solutions and buying products made with plastic.
• Take an active step in our local communities by joining other environmental activists.
• Inform our elected officials about our beliefs, concerns and what you want them to do.
• When shipping art, make sure your packaging is made from eco-friendly recycled materials, is capable of being recycled, compostable, re-usable, and labelled green / eco-friendly.

Inspirational Reminders for Us to Protect Mother Earth

“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction. The question is whether any civilization can wage relentless war on life without destroying itself, and without losing the right to be called civilized.” ~ Rachel Louise Carson

The ground we walk on, the plants and creatures, the clouds above constantly dissolving into new formations – each gift of nature possessing its own radiant energy, bound together by cosmic harmony. ~ Ruth Bernhard
